Poetry, place and time – digital images

This solo exhibition was at the Orkney Gallery, Kirkwall in September 2004.

From my statement at the time:
Orkney’s landscape is a constant source of inspiration and my work aims to evoke a distillation of Orkney which enables the viewer to recognise and recall his own particular response to its unique qualities; I hope to create work which is capable of ”manifesting the exquisite ache which the physical world induces”.

The poetry of George Mackay Brown also plays a part in re-creating Orkney and much of my recent work has been based on his ‘Brodgar Poems’ sequence, from which titles of these 5″ square digital prints, the result of digital manipulation of my own prints, drawings and photographs, are taken.
